Font Style not working in 5.01 blocks

    I’ve just updated to 5.01 on a small site with the latest version of Customizr theme and plugins, basically as a test area.

    On trying a test page in the new editor, everything works perfectly until I try to style a block of type, or an excerpt of type, ie. bold or italic. Nothing. I can add tags manually and it works, but surely this defeats the point of the new editor?

    Likewise, the ‘text colour’ colours the whole block, not individual words.

    Anybody else having the same issues? Thoughts?

    Editing existing pages, without ‘blocks’ works as it should.

    The bold and italic buttons should work much the way you expect them to. Highlight some text, click the button, it changes that text. If this isn’t working, see if you have any errors in the javascript console.

    Text coloring is limited to blocks, for now. There is no control in the blocks to add text coloring inline, to individual words, for example. Generally speaking, changing text color inline is uncommon, and often leads to readability and accessibility problems.

    If you need that functionality, it’s still available in the Classic Block, so you can use one of those if you need it. You can also use the Classic Block alongside other blocks, so that you don’t have to type the whole post into a single block.

    I can’t see any errors, but as I said, I’m using the site for testing and finding the best way to work for me.

    Agree with you on the readability, but sometimes we’ll run the para title as, for instance, bold coloured text at the start of the para with the text running from it.

    I’ve tried the Classic Block now – probably answers many of my queries and needs!!
