Font wieght in I.E

Start by making sure your HTML is valid:

I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with the html markup or it wouldn’t work.

the tag’s are generated by wordpress and they work on every other browser.

That’s not correct at all. IE has many problems with invalid mark-up that other browsers don’t have.

Validating your HTML and CSS is always the first step in tracking down CSS issues.

So you might look at these as well:

@wpyogi: The xhtml errors aren’t that serious and are probably not the font weight bug.

@danny_getextra: xhtml errors can cause all kinds of display problems in IE and many WordPress themes are not perfect in their html rendering.

Best to use the CSS validator, which does show an error with the breadcrumbs selector, possibly a garbage character in the style sheet: https://bit.ly/VAyEuO

I do apologise, I’m still learning and problem solving like this is part of the curve.

I’ve amended the padding just missing the colon in between the characters.
Still this doesn’t seem to fix the issue.

If you’re having problems with Helvetica, Helvetica doesn’t work in IE by default, it always turns bold. I would try, if you’re not already, font-face, cufon or Google Web Fonts to implement Helvetica.
If all fails, use a similar font to Helvetica for Internet Explorer.
