• I am having an issue with my website where when a page is first loaded the fonts for the main body of the page is too big. If I hit refresh on the page (Ctrl+R or Command+R) the page reloads with the correct font size.

I am using a child theme with very minimal code just to make the menu appear on a separate line.

This is my site : https://gameofreallife.org/

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

My client was going crazy so I have added the hash workaround from this page to my site:

If someone would like to help me troubleshoot the issue, I can turn off this hack as needed for testing.

    Thanks

    Hi there!

Which browser is causing you troubles?

Looks like it is just Chrome (tested Version 36.0.1985.125) and Safari (client report, version unsure). The pages were fine when I tested on Firefox 30.0 and IE 10.0.9200.17054.

I have turned off the auto-refresh script for now.

    Hello!

I cannot recreate this problem you describe. Are you still seeing this issue after disabling the refresh script?

I don’t see it either. A couple of possibilities, though:

    1. You seem to be loading a lot of fonts. Do you really need that many?
    2. The style.css of the parent theme refers to a font-family called FontAwesome, with no alternative fonts, but I don’t see where FontAwesome is being loaded.

I see how the fonts can be an issue. I notice that sometimes the page takes that extra seconds to load and the font issue may be tied to that… the right font not getting loaded in time so the page uses a different one?

And you are also right I am not seeing that issue now.

I am not sure where all the fonts are coming from, my guess is that they are referenced by the Make theme. I will check if I have any control over the font loading.

    Thanks for your help!
    Naren

    Hi Naren!

The Make theme does not load arbitrary fonts. If you have chosen fonts in the Customizer, those fonts get loaded. There is no way to tell whether you actually need the font or not, so if you chose the font, it will be loaded.

I also recommend updating to the latest version of the theme. We did overhaul some things related to fonts and it might improve your experience.

Posts here from 5 Months ago, yet I am having this issue now.

Was it ever fixed, because it seems to be an issue right now (21 Feb 2015) using chrome have not tested on other browsers not that it matters. If it’s an issue with any browser, it’s an issue. I can not dictate what browser my client uses.

    Hi there,

Can you share a link to your site so we can take a look?
