    Hi,
I upgraded to PHP 8 on a staging site and the front end looks fine and the login screen comes up but once logged in I get a critical WordPress error. The host looked at the error logs and it’s Foobox. When do you plan to make the plugin compatible with PHP 8.0?
    Thanks,
    Kathy

    Hi @kathycac

FooBox is actually already compatible with PHP 8.0 as it is compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

To assist you further with this, could you kindly ask your hosting provider to share the error logs with you and then share them with us so that we can have a look at the logs and analyze them from our end too? Thanks in advance for doing so.

Also, when a critical WordPress error does occur, an email is automatically sent to the registered email address of the admin account/user on that particular WordPress site and it contains information on what caused the error. If you did get that email, kindly share the details of that too. Thanks in advance for doing so.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

    Kind regards,
    Elvis.

    Hi Elvis,

Here is the error message the host provided me with. I can ask my client if he received an email but he is slow to respond.

    Hi @kathycac

Thanks for getting back to us with that.

Now, one last request. Could you kindly navigate to the Plugins section to have a look at the version of FooBox you have installed and activated and let us know which one it is? Thanks in advance for doing so.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

    Kind regards,
    Elvis.

    Hi Elvis,
It’s not activated on the staging site because then the admin breaks but it’s version 2.4.0.0 and doesn’t indicate that there is an update.
The live site has it active but is still at version 7.4 of PHP.
I’m wondering if they had the paid version of it or Foo Gallery installed at one point and it expired.
Foo Gallery is at version 2.2.7
Thank you for your prompt attention to this!

    Hi @kathycac

So, it’s important to note that the latest version of FooBox is actually 2.7.17 which has been tested up to WordPress 6.0 (the latest version of WordPress) and PHP 8.1 and works perfectly without any issues.

Having a look at the FooBox path you shared with the error logs, and also you mentioned that the version you have is 2.4.0.0 – and it doesn’t indicate that there is an update – it’s clear that the FooBox you have installed and activated is not the same one as this: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/foobox-image-lightbox/
That FooBox plugin you have installed and activated may even have been built by different authors/developers.

Kindly uninstall that version of FooBox you have and download the latest version of FooBox shown in this linked image from the WordPress repository: https://prnt.sc/4cHPOTm8ndIZ

    Thanks.

    Kind regards,
    Elvis.
