How do you add subcategories to menu? like ‘entrees’ or ‘appetizer’ inside dinner? Can you do this so front page only shows main menu categories without subcategory menu items at top?

It seems like every category shows up on top, whether it is parent or not.

I asked Jetpack creator, he told me to ask you. Says the theme controls where menu sections are displayed.
I would like menu section ‘children’ to not appear at top of page. Is there a setting that only allows ‘parent’ menu sections to appear above menu items?

    Hi,

This is really a new feature request and I will consider it for the next theme update.

Can you please log a ticket at https://support.webmandesign.eu so we can discuss in more details what you actually aim for. Please provide your website’s URL so I can check personally too.

    Regards,

    thanks!

I just used diplay:none on the menu titles I didn’t want to appear. It put a space between lunch & specials, but i’m fine with it……

    Hi,

So, your issue is resolved for now? If not, please log a ticket on https://support.webmandesign.eu

Just a tip: I would suggest you only use a “Menu” page for such a long food menu and disable the section on your homepage as it makes the homepage too long. But this is just my tip ??

You can actually split the menu into several pages: https://support.webmandesign.eu/forums/topic/different-food-menu-on-different-pages/

    Hi,

I’m currently investigating the option to add this feature into the new theme update I work on.

You’ve mentioned “I asked Jetpack creator, he told me to ask you. Says the theme controls where menu sections are displayed.” Funny enough, there is no way currently for me to alter the Jetpack’s Food Menu output in the way it would be required for the functionality you need. Jetpack simply doesn’t seem to differentiate parent food menu sections from child sections. Thus it outputs them in a row.

Besides, there is also (still) no way for me to control the food menu sections navigation (displayed above the food menu) currently the way I would like to. The whole food menu navigation is currently being created with JavaScript in the theme, as Jetpack does not contain any filter I could hook on and alter the food menu HTML output (and also to choose whether to display parent food menu sections only or all).

However, it is actually possible to hide any specific food menu sections from food menu navigation and since I update the theme (version 1.4.8+) you will be able to hide certain food menu sections in whole food menu display with some custom CSS.

I will suggest some improvements to Jetpack plugin so they can make the things a bit easier and flexible for the future (although, I’ve tried already – when I was creating the Auberge theme – but with no luck as they rejected my suggestions).

    Thanks for understanding.

    Regards,

    Oliver
