    Hi,
I had previously had a custom footer message on my website, but a recent Astra update (I assume related to the new Footer Builder) erased it. Would the old text have been stored in the database somewhere? Or am I just going to have to recreate it from scratch? (It had a bunch of links and such in it, so this is really a pain.)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @ate-up-with-motor,

We are sorry for the delay.

Updating the Astra theme should not cause any issue, including the one you described. From what version to what version did you update the Astra theme?

If you used the old Footer and opted to use the new Footer Builder, then yes, you need to re-create the Footer. However, if you didn’t opt to use the new Header Footer Builder (HFB), your existing Footer should still work as before.

For the users prior to Astra v3.0, it is optional to use/migrate to the new HFB. However, for the users who use Astra v3.0 and later, HFB will be there as default.

    I hope it will help.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

I THINK the change followed the update last month from 3.7.4 to 3.7.5, or possibly the 3.7.4 update a few days earlier. (I have the Astra theme set to auto-update, so I don’t always keep close track.)

What’s peculiar is that when I noticed the footer was gone, I had not accessed the Astra theme options in months. I used the Header Footer Builder once I realized the original footer was gone, so I could recreate the footer, but the disappearance of the previous one definitely wasn’t triggered by that.

    Hi @ate-up-with-motor,

I just checked your site and I saw the Footer there. I also noticed that you are using the latest version of Astra, which currently is v3.7.6. Do you confirm that the issue is now fixed? Although I am not sure what the cause of the Footer disappearance was.

If you confirm the issue is fixed, then please mark the topic as Resolved. Feel free to open a new topic or reach out to us thru our Support Portal if you have anything related to Astra we can help you with.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

Oops, sorry — while I did have to recreate the footer (and am not sure why it disappeared in the first place), it is now resolved.

I don’t know why it happened, but as best I can surmise, it may have been some kind of database hiccup.

    Good to know that @ate-up-with-motor.

Good to know that you have figured it out!
