Fortunately, the developers of Twenty Fifteen gave an Action Hooks for footer customization.

First, Use child themes for any customisation you will make. Read more about it here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

Get the code here: https://gist.github.com/calvincanas/b31183554a975dcae373 and paste to your functions.php ( child theme ). You can also see the part that needs modifying there to fit your needs.

You can do that by adding some custom CSS. Since you already have a child theme you can add this CSS code to your child theme style.css.

.site-info a:last-child {
display: none;
}

This should remove the Powered by WordPress part from your footer.
