• I went through the Header and Footer Builder Walkthrough by the developers of Astra, Brainstorm force. It was hugely helpful.

But one thing that I can’t quite get clear is the numbering of the Widgets and the insertion of the widgets. When working with the builder there are Widgets 1 – 4. It isn’t clear what each of those widgets are until one drags it onto one’s footer. So Widget 1 is an Image, Widget 2 is for some sort of heading or text, Widget 3 is for a heading, not sure about 4.

What is the point of the widgets being numbered instead of just a label of what it is? And for extra credit, what is a “Legacy Widget”.

What am I missing here that is going to be blatantly, embarrassingly clear and obvious after you explain it to me?

The “Link to the page you need help with:” probably doesn’t show you anything (that you don’t already know). It is a screen scrape of the the footer builder working on my page showing the Widgets 1-4.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Matonanjin,

Widget 1 is actually Widgetized Sidebar 1 in terms of WordPress code structure. Inside this Widgetized Sidebar 1 you can add multiple widgets. These widgets are the same that you find when you go to the WP Admin > Appearance > Widgets screen.

As you might know, the widgets screen has changed to a block-based widgets editor in WP 5.8. You can use the Legacy Widget block to display third party widgets that hasn’t been converted to a block.

I hope this clears up your confusion.

    Kind regards,
    Elisabeth

@elisabeth01 I know you are trying and I appreciate it. But, “no”, that did not clear up confusion. Widgetized Sidebar?!?!?!? Huh? I have no idea what you said in your response. I know you are trying but that will give you an idea of my level of ignorance.

    Hi @matonanjin,

Maybe this article will help you understand what Widget is.

    I hope it will help.

    Kind regards,

@bsfherman I know what a widget is!!!! I want to know what Widgets 1, 2, 3 and 4 are in the footer-header builder.

I’m trying to build my footer. What is Widget 1? I want to put a Text Editor in my footer. I can not find it in the block list. Can I make Widget 1 a Text Editor? Widget 2? 3? 4?

    What is Widget 2?
    What is Widget 3?
    What is Widget 4?

As I said, I went through the YT Video “Header Footer Builder Walkthrough” and I posted in the replies this question. The author responded with “widgets are simply containers, and you control the content that you want to add in it“. How? How do I contol the content? I want the content of Widget 1 to be a Text Editor.

    Hi @matonanjin,

By adding those Widgets to the Footer, you can then add the available Blocks to those Widgets. It is a similar thing like when you add Blocks to the Sidebar.

    I hope it will help.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??
