This seems like it may be another version of the issue discussed in this thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/set-or-reset-footnote-numbers/

In short, when I use the [mfn][/mfn] short code, I’m able to get footnotes on the page to automatically number starting with 1.

But whenever I use the “Add a footnote” button, the code <mfn></mfn> is inserted instead. In this case, if I have 2+ footnotes on the page, the numbering will begin with 1. But if I have only one footnote on the page, it will be numbered 3.

For now, I’m using the [mfn][/mfn] short code work around, but if there’s a way to fix the “Add a footnote” button in the case of pages with only one note, that would be most helpful.

    Thanks so much!

@jdavidstark thanks for the details on this! I’ve just released a new version that I think will fix the problem, but there could be a few things causing this so I’m not positive. When you get a moment, could you upgrade to the latest version of the plugin (1.3.5) and see if it fixes this issue for you?

Yes, that does look like it’s fixed the issue on at least one page. I’ll keep an eye out for anything else that crops up. But otherwise, looks like we’re good to go.

Thanks so much for your help with that!
