For Coupons with FREE Trial, how can I disable payment to Paypal for Trial

    Hi,

    First Question:
    I am trying to create a coupon where they have free trial period for 12 months and then only pay. I dont want them to go into paypal (payments), just give them access until that period expires.

    PMP Membership->Settings->Discount Codes->Add New Discount Code

    Initial Payment: 0
    Custom Trial: checked
    Trial Billing Amount: 0 for the first 12 subscription payments

    And then I try to sign up with the discount code, it has the paypal button.
    Sign in paypal, and authorize payment with credit card.
    And it failed

    Second Question:
    Why does paypal fail, is that because it is zero ?

    Thank you for reaching out to Paid Memberships Pro.

    I’m sorry to hear that you’re having this problem. When a discount code is set to 0, there will no longer be a PayPal button, as that will turn into a Submit and Check Out ? button. Since that is not happening for you, then we recommend using the latest versions of Paid Memberships Pro and WordPress, so please update to Paid Memberships Pro 2.9.5 and WordPress 6.1, then let me know if this resolves the problem. It shouldn’t fail, so please let me know what happens after updating.

    Hi,

    I am using version 2.9.5.

    Here is the screenshot of my discount code setting.

    As you can see in Billing Amount, there is a value 50. It will have the paypal button. But if I change this to 0, then the paypal button disappears.

    What I would like is that I give a 12 months free period and then charge 50 every month. Because it is FREE for 12 months, how can I disable the Paypal button ? After that 12 months expires, then it should kick in the payment.

    Thanks for your feedback. If you want to offer 12 months free and then charge 50 every month, you would need to set the initial and recurring payments to 0 for the discount code, then set an expiration of a year, and then set the membership level to 50 recurring. After a year, then members will need to manually renew for 50.
