It’s taken me a while to understand that the first sentence on this page explaining “translating links” is just WRONG; if “Force language in custom links” is set as YES in Settings > General, then a link clicked in the translated page should go to the corresponding translated destination page. And it just DOESN’T; it goes to the default language of the destination page. there’s no indication at all that it’s a paid feature, or that it NOW is a paid feature (which i’ve seen suggested in some threads and forums), so i was wondering if there’s an answer, before i turn off the Force Language setting and do it all manually…

    Hello,

The “Force language in custom links” option retains the additional language during navigation on the site.

If the language is not maintained while browsing your site and redirects to the default language, please provide me with a link so I can take a look.

It’s also important to consider how the links are added to your site; for example, if it’s a button, you might try adding the link without the site name, just the page.

If you are using a subdirectory for the default language, it is essential to include the default language slug in the link, for example: test.com/page/ -> test.com/en/page if your default language is English.

    Kind regards,

    Anca
