Force page slug to be unique

    post slugs are forced to be unique by default. I need page slugs to be unique too. I have a large CMS wordpress install, with many pages that have the same name. A plugin I’m using to convert permalinks to shortcodes and back is finding the wrong page because it’s searching for the first instance of its slug.

    Page slugs are unique. Go into the page editor and create two new pages with the same title. You will see the second one’s slug is
    my-page-name-2

    There can be more than one page with the same title but they won’t have the same slug.

    I also realize you are having a problem – not saying you aren’t. Just saying WordPress doesn’t create duplicate page slugs by itself.
