I have installed the free Yoast Plugin but when the setting force rewrite titles is ‘disabled’ it still rewrites the titles.

I would appreciate help in correcting this bug.

    Thanks a lot.
    Gavin

  • Hi,

We understand you disabled the Force Rewrite option and the titles remained and did not flip back to their original format. We would like some more information.

    1. We had another recent release. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v14.9? If you update, does the issue resolve?

    2. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.5.1? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider.?Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast.?This guide explains more:?https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.

    3. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    4. What theme are you using?

    5. Does clearing your caching from your theme, plugin, server, CDN like CloudFlare or browser resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear caching from theme/plugin please speak to those authors. If you want to clear cache from the server, please speak to your host provider. To clear the cache from a browser use this guide: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-clear-my-browsers-cache/

    Hi,

I appreciate you coming back to me on this so quickly.

    In respond to your questions:

    1) Yes
    2) Yes
    3) Advanced Custom Fields PRO requires updating from 5.7.6 to 5.9.1.
    4) Custom build
    5) I have purged the cache on theme, server and browser but unfortunately the issue persists.

    Many thanks,
    Gavin

    Hi,

We’re sorry that you are experiencing problems that might be caused by our plugin!

Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

We’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.
