On product collections (category pages, search results pages, related products sections, etc.), the CTA button for each product card will say either “add to cart” or “select options” depending on whether the product has multiple variants to choose from.

Variants can be assigned default values. In the case of a product with default values set for all its options, the “add to cart” label is displayed:

With default values set, shoppers can add the variable product to the cart without having to make a selection first.

    https://woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/#setting-defaults

I would like to ask if there’s a way to disable this behavior?

In other words, is it possible to configure whether to use “select options” or “add to cart” in cases when a product has default values set for all its options?

For context, here’s an earlier thread from two years ago that seems to ask for the opposite, so it looks like it might have been a relatively recent change:

I understand that you want to change the?Select Options?button of your variable products to Add?to Cart?that will automatically select a default variation, is that correct?

    Thank you.

    Hello elaborate,

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce support.

Just to confirm, are you looking to modify the behavior so that the “Select Options” button for variable products is replaced with “Add to Cart” when a default variation is already set?

This would allow customers to add the product to their cart without selecting options manually—am I understanding that correctly?

Please note, this isn’t possible with the core WooCommerce functionality. You would need either a custom plugin or custom code to achieve this.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have more questions or concerns.
We are here to help ??

    Best regards.

    No. That’s already the default.

Sorry, but I think you’re confused. What you’re describing is not only possible in the latest version of WooCommerce, it’s the default behavior when all product attributes have default terms configured.

I’m asking to turn off the behavior.

My apologies, I’m wrong. It turned out to be a plugin implementing the feature without documenting it.

    Hi @azinfiro ,

We appreciate the update. Since a plugin in your setup caused the change, you might want to check its settings or reach out to the plugin developer for assistance in adjusting this behavior.

If you need further help or guidance, feel free to ask or start a new thread if it’s for a different topic.
