Hi. I have created a site where I can send a download link to customers for downloading material. I use WP Mail SMTP and Google as sender. It works perfectly, but it looks quite bad to have a g-mail adress as sender at the customers side..(specially when it’s the wrong (old company name) adress ?????♂?). I have changed settings in Gmail and it works fine, if I send a simple email it says my name as sender, but using my form at my site using WP Mail SMTP it will still be the g-mail adress as sender. And even if I check the “Force From name” in WP Mail SMTP settings it won’t work. Any one with any ideas?

    Thanks a lot!!

    /Andreas

  • Hi @filmstadenstudio,

Thanks for reaching out. When you get a chance, could you please share if you’re getting the full email address in ‘From Name’ and does this happen when you send a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Email Test as well? If not, what is the form plugin sending the emails?

    Thanks!

Hi @filmstadenstudio – We haven’t heard from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Hi
Sorry for the long delay. We have not been at office that much cause of the pandemic.

This is how it looks for me when I send a test through the form on my site using the WP Mail SMTP-plugin:

And this is how it looks when I do a test from the WP Mail SMTP-plugin in WordPress:

( I also noticed that the test did not arrive to my Outlook(office) mail, even though the plugin said it was sent, but it arrived to my personal g-mail adress..(?) Well, that’s another question… but if you know anything about that behaviour then please share ?? ?? )

Anyway, so, it looks a bit different in both actions, but none of them are correct.
This is what I want to be shown, and also what I have put as from-name at gmail, which works fine for simple e-mails.

So, I want the From-name to be “Filmstaden Studio”
But whatever I do it gets the “sfmediamastering-name”…

I hope this is any good for you…
Thanks a lot for any help!

    /best regards

    Hi @filmstadenstudio,

Thanks for the details. It looks like you’re getting ‘From Name’ as a part of your Gmail email address when sending a test email and full email address as From Name while sending from the form. Could you please make sure you’re using latest version of WP Mail SMTP? If possible, please share full screenshot from your WP Mail SMTP settings section and share whole email? Here’s how to download email in Gmail.

This will give us a better idea on what might be going on.

    Hi
    Thanks for your answer.
ok, now I have made a video shot for you with the settings and you will have the downloaded email from Gmail. Also some screenshots.
BUT I noticed one thing now..
It looks like this problem only aplies for Apples mail (???)
When look at the email in my private gmail account and also on the email for Outlook (web account) for my office separate, everything looks fine…

Do you have any experience in that?

    Please se screenshots.

    Hi @filmstadenstudio,

Thanks for the details! The original email message is sent with a proper sender’s name. Unfortunately, it looks like the behaviour of Apple mail. Do you already have that email address in your mailbox contact list? There are some discussions in Apple’s forum that might help you to check this behaviour.

    Have a good one!

    Hi
Thanks for your answer. Yes, it looks like a behaviour from Apple mail. Thanks for the link with the discussion but that was not about this issue, and it was no solution in there either ??

I guess I’ll have to contact apple regarding this? But thanks anyway!
