• I’m not really sure if this the correct place to report this (this is an official plugin, right?).

Yesterday I set up matomo on our server and connected it with this plugin. As Matomo-URL I just entered “mydomain.com/matomo” and everything was working.
Just before I went home I changed the matomo config to force ssl connection, because it was recommended somewhere in an matomo FAQ.

Today I changed some things and added matomo to our cookie plugin and after that was set up I noticed that matomo wasn’t tracking anything the entire day. After a lot of trial and error (because the matomo interface on our server just said “nothing tracked today” and not something like “can’t track” (like it would with an error). I found out that the matomo plugin said it can’t connect to our server. But nowhere else was this error, not on our matomo server, no big popup in wordpress or anything else. I just found this by accident because I wanted to reset the full plugin and set it up fresh.

There is no way that the matomo server doesn’t notice this. Why isn’t it throwing an error that nothing can be tracked? Because technically it’s not connected. Or the wordpress plugin should have a popup at the top that something is wrong.
