Force WP to post/publish at a certain time?

  • Is it possible to force WP to post and ping at a certain time… in other words, write the entry and publish… but the entry will not actually post until a later time?
    Perhaps by modifying one of the function.php files?

  • I think you can delay posting to a later time (“future posting”), but AFAIK pinging happens as soon as you actually publish. I don’t follow that at all really, just remember a few threads here over the last few months – you might try a search….

    Do you know about hitting “Advanced Editing” then go down and check “Edit Timestamp” and edit it with the time you want it published?

    That works fine for delaying publishing, but it still pings immediately IIRC.

    Someone has a plugin which does a delayed pinging too. Please check codex.

    Looks like my initial search was lousy!

    I searched again and found wp-cron plugin which does delay pinging to the future date.

    I also handles email posting and more.
