• Hello everyone,

I’ve been straying through forums but haven’t found any solution. Maybe you can help. On our website we have currently tow cookiebanner. The big one in the center of the page is wanted, but the one on top of the site is not. I have no cookiebanner plugin installed, widget activated or any code on the page that would make this occure. At least not that I know. Also this cookiebanner is english even though the wordpress-backend is german. I can’t find a way to remove it. Am i getting hacked maybe?

    Hope anyone has an idea.
Stay safe and thanks in advance.

The one at the top has a class assigned that begins with “hs-“. Does that ring any bells? Maybe related to a plugin or the theme?

I saw this in the dev tool, too. But it does not. I checked my plugins twice but the initials show no relation. Also not to any themes I use.

    so, do the plugin/theme dance.

Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for JUST you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins and themes one at a time. See https://make.www.ads-software.com/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/ for more information.

Alright, I thought a bit more about the “hs-” thing. I am pretty sure it comes from a plugin I had installed. I googled that class name of the banner and I found a forum in which they stated, that banner comes from a hubspot plugin. But I uninstalled it some weeks ago. I am not to familiar with the wordpress-backend when it comes to the wp-config. stuff. But is there a way to delete this manually? Or should I reinstall the plugin, turn the cookiebanner off and see what happens?

If the method I outlined does not work, sure, give that a try!

With the class/ID I was able to set it on display:none for now, but I will look further into removing it completely. For now my problem is solved with this little workaround.

Thanks for the headsup on the matter @sterndata

Have a nice one and stay safe.
