forgot password

  • Hi

    I have forgotten the password to get into the admin on one of my wordpress blogs. The email address that wordpress is sending the new password is no longer valid how can I get a new password sent to my new email address?

    Hi Rev thanks but that’s no help because the trouble is I cannot get into my admin panel because I cant remember the password and I cant get my new password because the email address wordpress is sending it to no longer exists!

    Yes Ive read that and to be honest it might aswell be in swahili!! LOL

    is it not possible to just phone someone at wordpress and say

    “Hi can you help me please
    I’m afraid the email address in your records/my account that you are sending my new password to is defunct could you just update my records/my account with my new email address so when I request a new password I can get to the email”

    is that sort of thing impossible nowadays??

    No, you got yourself some free software on a self-hosted server. It would be more logical to talk to your host, but I don’t know if they’re going to help with software that they didn’t install themselves.

    But it’s not that hard.

    jeepers then I’m going to have to try and learn what the heck a Mysql is??

    trust me it may not seem hard to you but I think its going to be impossible for me!!

    Heh, you wanted to host your website yourself, right? wordpress.COM would be the place if you don’t want to host your own website.

    Just give it a go, there will be a lot more things to learn in the future! There are some tutorials in the codex where I linked to that are pretty step-by-step.

    When I started with WP I knew squat about PHP, CSS, databases, etc. and I still know only the very necessary things, but most of the time it’s enough. Trial and error, get some help from the forums ………
