    Hello,

I have been using Forminator for a few years with these forms with high success. It seems there has been an update on my platform that has caused all of the form elements like radio buttons and drop downs to not be formatted correctly. Users cannot see their selections. Here are some examples:
    https://outsidechronicles.com/upload/
    https://outsidechronicles.com/trivia/

The form elements show up correctly in the block editor preview.

    Hi @mikerads

I hope you are doing well today.

In the first place we need to know does on the site was an update of Forminator or others plugins or theme as well. With that we can narrow down main conflict.

    1. If there were other plugins and theme updates as well, it could mean we have some conflict here. Note that each site is different and the WP repository contains over 60 000 plugins. In the end, with updates from our plugins and other plugins we cannot be sure do both plugins will work together all the time. Having that in mind, we do not know your site and what plugins or themes you use.

At this point, would you please run a conflict test? Please deactivate all plugins except Formiantor one and check if the problem is gone. If so, then enable all plugins one by one and find which one is having a conflict. If there is no positive result, switch to the default WordPress theme like 2019, and see if it works.

Before this test, we recommend full site backup or running this test on the staging site.
    2. If this was only Forminator update on the site, please roll back Forminator to the previous version and see if will it give positive results.
You can download the previous version from here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/forminator/advanced/

Also, please export your form and upload it to google drive and share a link in your next reply so that we could check on our lab do we see the same issue on our side, as for now we can only replicate this issue on pages URLs you have shared.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I just downgraded to v1.24.6 and the forms now display correctly.

Here is the link to the forms: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MuvJCPqZxFRFyHro4L8DfDV6BMs_jYmH?usp=drive_link

    Hi @mikerads,

Thanks for sharing the form export, however, I’m not able to notice any specific issue when I import the form.

Possible to share a screenshot of what you have enabled under Forminator > Settings > Data > File Upload Storage ?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin

Here is the screen shot requested. Reverting back to 1.24.6 helped with the display problems. However, now with all versions one of my upload forms is throwing an error. I have 3 similar forms. 2 of 3 are working correctly. This form: https://outsidechronicles.com/upload is giving the following error: “An error occurred while processing the form. Please try again”

    These forms are working correctly:
    https://outsidechronicles.com/flupload/
    https://outsidechronicles.com/treks

The https://outsidechronicles.com/upload stopped working sometime last night as I have submissions up until Aug 24.

I have tried upgrading to 1.25.2 and the upload form still has an error. Under 1.25.2 all forms do not display correctly.

    Thread Starter mikerads

    (@mikerads)

Also, I have disabled all plugins except Forminator. I get the upload form error with 1.25.2 and 1.24.6. I also disabled all plugins and changed to Twenty Twenty Three theme with 1.25.2 and still get the display issue across all forms.

    (@mikerads)

Ok, I compared setting with upload forms that work and ones that do not. The error with uploading a file on that one form (https://outsidechronicles.com/upload) was caused by Rendering->Load form using AJAX being turned on. I can replicate the error by turning that on and off. All upload forms working had that feature turned off.

So, I am back to the original issue with 1.24.6 displaying forms correctly and 1.25.2 showing the form without the radio buttons showing and the dropdown menus not showing a background.

    Hello @mikerads,

Thank you for the feedback. There was a similar issue reported recently with the latest Forminator versions, and our developers are working on improving this in future releases.

Could you please test if the following steps would help fixing the form styles:

    1. Find the .htaccess file inside “/wp-content/uploads/forminator” directory.

    2. Open this file for editing, and remove the following line, if it’s there:

    Options -ExecCGI

Make sure to save the file.

    3. Navigate to /wp-content/mu-plugins/ directory on the server. If there’s no such folder, just create a new “mu-plugins” folder in /wp-content/

    4. Create a new PHP file, for example: forminator-style-fix.php in /wp-content/mu-plugins/ directory, and paste the code from here in it:

    https://pastebin.com/q7b0zTQ3

    and save the file.

    4. Open the form in WP Admin, do some small change to it, and press the “Update” button.

    5. Please make sure that all the site caches have been flushed, and test the form on the frontend.

If the above helped fixing the form styles, just leave the uploaded PHP file in /wp-content/mu-plugins/ as a workaround for now, to make it run as a must use plugin.

I hope this helps. Let us know if there’s still any issue.

    Best Regards,
    Dmytro

Dmytro, that seemed to help with the ?“An error occurred while processing the form. Please try again”

I am still having the rendering problems with v1.25.2. I have reverted back to v1.24.6 for now.

    Hi @mikerads,

Hope this message finds you well and thanks for the update.

I did test your form on my end but as Nithin I was not able to reproduce the issue. The form displays just fine if Rendering >> Load form using AJAX is enabled.

In most Load form using AJAX fails when there is another jQuery error or conflict with a different plugin. It would be possible for you that temporarily update the plugin and use Browser Developers Tools to share the errors in the Console? You will find the debug steps for the different browsers in this article https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/

Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
    Laura

Conversely, there are no console messages under v1.24.6.

    Hi @mikerads,

I hope you are doing well today!

I have noticed two slashes "https://" in the Custom File Upload Storage section on the image you have shared. Please try removing one of them and save changes.
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/form-elements-not-showing-up/#post-17000835

Please also double check the directory path and check its contents with File Manager or FTP to make sure.

    Hello,
After investigating, the path is correct. See https://outsidechronicles.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Screen-Shot-2023-09-06-at-7.44.50-AM.png

With v1.25.2, I still get the following console errors:

    outsidechronicles.com/:1124 GET https://outsidechronicles.com/wp-content/uploadshttps:/outsidechronicles.com/wp-content/forminator/5335_ab4b4b8afc315599b41a45e0b77fbe81/css/style-5335.css?ver=1693224938 net::ERR_ABORTED 404

With v.1.25.2, I reverted to the Default upload storage location and all forms display CORRECTLY.

Another curious thing, if I do not put any trailing slashes on my custom storage location “/home/customer/www/outsidechronicles.com/public_html/wp-content/forminator”, I save it, move off the settings page and go back. It adds it for me.

If I add the custom path with a trailing slash “”/home/customer/www/outsidechronicles.com/public_html/wp-content/forminator/”, I save it, move off the settings page and go back, it now has two trailing slashes.

I can live with the Default storage location, but I think there is something different with the way the Custom Storage Location is being handled between v1.24.6 and v1.25.2.

    Hi again @mikerads,

We are happy to hear that the default location works for you and the issue has been resolved. I am marking this thread accordingly. Our Forminator developers and QA team is already aware of those issues and will check further on File Uploads Storage behavior in the future releases.

Please let us know in case you need further help.

    Kind regards,
    Zafer
