We created a simple contact form and when we email it the message indicates it was sent successfully. However the form never reaches the destination email address. We are using the WP Mail SMTP plugin which sends the emails through our Google gmail account. The test email on that SMTP plugin works. And the SMTP plugin debug report doesnt show any errors.

So I am not sure where the form email is going to.

    Thanks

    Hi @sailpilot

    I hope you’re well today!

If site is already configured to use SMTP, Forminator would also use it. It doesn’t send these notifications in a “custom way” – it uses whatever way your WordPress is configured to use.

I understand that you made sure that these messages don’t end up in spam folder, right?

IF that’s not the case, please also double-check From headers settings in Forminator:

    1. take a look at “From Headers” setting on “Forminator -> Settings -> General” page
    2. and in your form(s) setting in notifications’ (each set notification separately) “Advanced” tab

In most cases the issue is that there’s either “From name” or “From e-mail” – or both of them – set to be different than the e-mail account used for SMTP and SMTP server doesn’t allow/handle it well (many of those to reject or filter such messages, considering them “spoofing” attempts).

Let us know if this was the case, please.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Thanks for your reply.

I checked the spam folder and there is nothing there.

I changed the from email address as per your suggestions (1 and 2) above.

The interesting thing is that I also tested this with a Contact Form 7 form and that one works. All the fields are identical on both forms. Both have captcha, but different ones. And when clicking the send button both forms indicate that the form was sent successfully. But the one from the Forminator never arrives.

I would much rather use your plugin because its easier to configure and style but not sure what else to check.

    Hi @sailpilot

Could you export the Form https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#import-export and share here using Google Drive and we can take a look at your form?

    Best Regards

Thanks but we decided to go with the Contact Form 7 plugin since it works and we are a bit short on development time.
