    Hello!

I support a dog rescue website where people apply using a Contact Form 7 application. We successfully receive 10-20 applications per day but every few days someone cannot get the application to send. I cannot recreate the problem but from talking with these people the issue is that they do not see the error messages related to required fields or fields that contain an improper format (such as email address). Since they can’t see the errors, they think the form doesn’t work. When I have had them send me screenshots, I can tell that the issue is a required field left blank or an invalid format for a field (such as “n/a” in an email field).

When I test the form, the errors are displayed in red beneath each field. I have added [response] at the top of the form and right above the SEND button but that has not helped. The problem is that some people don’t see the messages.

I am using Elementor and the Hello theme. All themes and plugins are up to date, though I don’t think that is the issue since the majority of applicants have no trouble.

Is this something anyone has experienced?

    Thank you!
    Angie

How many input fields do you have in the form?

Thank you for your reply, Takayuki. This is a HUGE form. There are 99 fields.

Don’t you think it’s too many for human beings? I’m not surprised if there are submitters who get exhausted by inputing and overlook the message.

LOL! I agree with you – it is too many fields! I didn’t come up with the questions on the form, I am doing my best to support it. This is an all volunteer organization and they are trying to gather as much info as possible on the form to help them do their job more efficiently.

Seriously, though, the messages do not appear at all for some users. Do you know why that might be happening? It is odd to me that the majority see the messages and have no problem but 5-10% of the users don’t see the messages.

Takayuki, do you have any suggestions? Although the form is long, 90-95% of applications submit without issue.

I recently had a user who had trouble with Chrome. She said there were no error messages but when she clicked SUBMIT, the screen appeared to be “processing” but never completed. She tried again with Internet Explorer and was successful. So it seems that in this case it wasn’t about not seeing the error messages – the issue is that the form would not submit. Is this a problem others have run into?

    Thank you!
