    Hi all,

I’ve had this problem since I installed WP Forms on my site. The form sends an email as its supposed to, but when I go to reply to that email, the to address is my email, not the email of the sender. How do I fix this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @bobdavcav,

You may address the issue by configuring the email address to reply to a notification on the?Reply-To?field in the notifications settings. In case it helps, please check our?guide about this field.

If that setting is correct and you’re using a mail program like Outlook or Apple Mail, the issue is likely due to a configuration in the program. To check this, please configure a Gmail to receive your form notifications, submit the form, and then reply to the notification on Gmail to verify if you can reproduce the issue.

If you see the correct email address in the Reply-To field on Gmail, this will confirm the issue is with your program, and you need to review its settings.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @bobdavcav,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

I just tried to figure this out, but I can’t seem to make it work. I don’t see anything in WP Forms settings, and when I add a smart tag with author email to the email field, the reply to email is still the address the form was sent from.

Hi @rsouzaam , I have the same problem occurred to @bobdavcav: I checked the form configuration and the Reply-to filed is correctly set but the test based on Gmail confirm that the answer goes to the wrong address, coming back to the sender

Hey @bobdavcav – Thanks for following on this ticket. I’m Prashant filling in for Ralden.

When you have some time, can you please share export the form and share using an online file-sharing tool like Google Drive or Dropbox so I can do some testing on my end?

@uroboro_comunicazione when you have some time, can you please create a new thread and share the related details as it will help to avoid any potential confusion?

    Kindly,

Hey @bobdavcav – Thanks for sharing the file. I imported the file to my dec setup, and for the reply to email I added the email field smart tag. When I looked at the source, I see that the reply to the email is the same email that I entered in the email field. Here’s a screenshot

When you have sometime, can you please share the screenshot of the “show original” page so I can take a closer look?

    Kindly,

What am I doing wrong here? Here’s a screenshot.

Hey @bobdavcav – When you get a chance, can you please double check the screenshot as it seems that the screenshot was not included in the message you sent?

Hey @bobdavcav – Thanks for following up on this ticket!

It seems that you’ve shared the screenshot of your form builder. When you have some time, can you please share the screenshot of the Show Original page in your mail client which I requested earlier? Here’s a screencast of what I’m referring to.

    Kindly,

Sorry for the long delay in my reply here, I thought I had posted the link but it appears the spam filter removed it. Any possibility of notifying the user somehow that this happens so they’re not wondering why there hasn’t been a reply? https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/07t37ctglrfxi5869bojy/2023-08-07.png?rlkey=t9nt9dcsz1fsjdv69o91juj7s&dl=0

Hey @bobdavcav – Thanks for sharing the screenshot!

I apologize as it seems that I may have missed sharing the screencast link of the section I was referring to. When you have sometime, can you please share the screenshot where it says “Reply-To:” in the show original as the current screenshot you’ve shared does not shows the reply-to email address? Here’s a screencast for quick reference.

    Kindly,

I just took a look at the page for which I sent you the screenshot, and there’s nothing there. From what I can tell, you got the entire page in the last screenshot. Additionally, in GMail’s interface, I can usually tell if the reply to email address is different, and it is not in this case. If it is, I will usually see “reply to: insert email”, and I do not see that when looking at the email for which I sent you the screenshot. Also, heads up that I will be going out of town tomorrow and won’t be back until next Saturday.

Hey @bobdavcav – Thanks for your intrest in this ticket!

When you get a chance, can you please share share a screenshot of the notification settings which you get get in the form builder Settings > Notifications?

    Kindly,
