Form not validating email address

When hitting submit the telephone number is validated (using alpha throws the error) but I can literally put anything in the email field and it will accept it. (ie. putting just the word “test” as the email (without @ or .com) let’s it go through.

I didn’t see anything in the settings and I’m fairly certain it is advertised to validate email right?
