Form Settings > Reference, if anything in this box I get a PayPal error

    If anything at all in this box (whether I tick ‘Display as a pre-set reference’ or not – i.e. if I type something in the back end and have this ticked, or I untick and on the front end the user types in a reference) I get an error from PayPal

    ‘Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later.’

    If this box is completely empty and ‘Display as a pre-set reference’ is ticked it works, but in PayPal Purchase Details the Description is blank (obviously). Price per item and Quantity are successfully populated.

    OK, seem to be generally getting this error. I’ve checked using Sandbox and I get ‘IPN was sent and the handshake was verified.’

    With something in the Reference box I can see Complete in the Payments report.

    But I’m still getting this error from PayPal
    ‘Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later.’

    I’ve ensured that in PayPal ‘Encrypted website payments’ is Off.

    Found my issue. My mistake.

    In Setup > Existing Forms section I’d put the incorrect Currency for my form – it didn’t match the primary currency exactly as set in my PayPal account.
