    Nope, it sure isn’t.
Anyone know how to do that with WP?

Right now I am not sure if its possible without custom coding into your theme files …

Maybe someone has created a plug-in of sorts for that .. try searching ..

Yeah, I like that! I’ve been thinking about doing something similar, but I’m a n00b with PHP. I’ve got the Smart Archives plugin and I dig the way it works. I was thinking about ripping the code, changing it a little, and applying it to a new template called categories.php or something. Not quite sure how that would work.

There is no “categories.php” template. (check the codex)
There could be a category.php template that will be used to display category archives, or you can even have different templates for each category, by naming them category-XX.php where XX is the catgeory’s ID#.

Well, I’ve about given up on trying to hack this on my own. It’s way over my head, apparently.

I have to say, I’m really surprised that listing category archives in this manner isn’t a built-in feature, or, at least, already available through a plug-in.

If anyone figures out/finds a solution, please post.
