Format public web

  • Hi,

    I have a problem with public format, because it is a simple html.

    But if I load with local ip from other pc in the same network I have no problem.

    I have installed in a Debian linux, at home.

    It’s the web https://www.analizadatos.com/

    What does the site think its URL is? If it’s localhost or 192.168.x.x, it will not work if accessed externally. It needs to be assigned an external URL (which you’ve done) and also use that URL in settings->general.

    Just a thought: It’s not a good idea to have a public facing web server on your home network. Home devices generally trust things on the local network, so if your server gets hacked, the attacker will have a lot of unfettered access to machines on your local network. It’s better, IMHO, to use an external host for any public sites.

    Thanks by the advice, it’s only temporal. I’m trying before pay for a VPS or similar.

    In settings -> General I have 192… I tried with https://www.analizadatos.com/ but the problem was bigger, because local and public had the same problem with the format. I have modified into bbdd to resolve it.

    Then I don’t know what must I put in Site URL and WordPress URL exactly. ?IP, domain, local, same URL in both,….? I’m very lost with this.

    You put in the URL you use to access the site externally. Once you have that, can you login?

    Finally, I have paid for a vps.

    But I have almost the same problem. If I put my public IP and the same in URL Site web and worpress site, all ok, but I have a domain name for my site, then I configure URL Site Web and Worpress Site with this name and if I tried with domain name, I have a white page , and if I put public IP, the page show without format.

    I don’t know how can I resolve this.

    Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

    Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

    You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
