• I was wondering if it is possible to autoformat the first letter of a post, so that I can make it a different size than the rest of the post body. If it is possible I would be most grateful if somebody could point me in that direction.

  • I’m with Jinsan on this.
    The psuedo element you are using applies to blocks and each para is a block so you’ll get the same effect. Otherwise all I can suggest is digging around some css sites .. I’ve checked some of the books I have and I see no way round as yet. Sorry!

    oh oh… when podz say no… It means time to give up on this.. hmm.. I think I should just ditch it altogether then.. thanks a lot for all your help guys.

    If you look at the source code of that link you gave, the first paragraph is
    <p class="BigFirst">
    and subsequent para’s are not classed.
    So the author must be using a tag and css to get that, and has to input that tag manually. It’s not far off the same thing as a span class, but they will both do what you need – and if it’s the effect you want, then a tag shouldn’t stand in your way ??
