• I love WordPress … BUT, why is the formatting so hard to deal with? Certainly, this can not continue:

When I write a simple post, I see there is “visual” and “code” mode. When I use “visual” mode, I write paragraphs, and naturally make line breaks between them. Yet, when I go to post, all the line breaks are gone, leaving a long, single line of text (?!!). So then I go into “code” mode and place in by hand <p> or <br> tags to make the appropriate formatting (which already seems extremely inconvenient that I would need to do this for very basic formatting). When I post, everything will look fine. But then if I return to the editor to make any changes, then all of the formatting will be stripped again.

This is totally unacceptable. I can’t imagine that a blogging application that is oriented around the most essential task allowing for basic formatting to potentially very long amounts of text would be so underdeveloped. Certainly, there must be some mistake. I am new to WP, maybe I am missing something. Will someone please inform me?

    I am using WP 2.2.

    Thanks.

  • There must be something wrong with your installation. Although the wysiwyg monster (what you call the “Visual”) is certainly an evil thing… but not that evil.

    Any text formatting plugins active?
Does it happen, too, if you deactivate all your plugins?
