• I seem to have a lot of formatting issues when using the Visual editor. WordPress is adding extra spaces, <spacer/>. It is also removing some of my closing tags and overall it’s really messing up my formatting. I know the best answer would be to work in the html instead of the Visual, however, I would like to see if there is a fix for these issues.
    Thanks,
    Matthew

  • you know, it doesn’t help much if there’s nothing to see. Got a link?

That would help, the url is https://www.desimonejewelry.com
    Thanks in advance,

Well, #1 it might help if you fixed the 43 validation errors on the site. Probably a lot of them come from the fact that you have an unclosed “a” link in your sidebar textwidget (which has absolutely nothing to do with how you choose to write your content – it’s in a sidebar widget.)

Thanks very much for your reply. I could not find a unclosed “a” link, in the sidebar. How would that affect WordPress adding spacer tags when using the visual editor?

    Thanks in advance,
    Matthew

Because if the anchor link is unclosed, then all other tags will be knocked out of place. Just like if you left an “em” tag unclosed, everything after it will become italicized.

it’s gone now – but it was definitely there yesterday. Maybe you fixed it without realizing it. now you only have 36 errors (see how closing the one single tag reduced multiple validation errors?) I’d knock out the rest and see if that doesn’t solve your problem.
