Well I thought it was a simple as ensuring I have the last release of the original cforms, v14.6 (I do), deactivating that, then installing cformsII and activating it. I did that – and all my custom forms were gone.

I deactivated and deleted cformsII, activated the original cforms 14.6 then restored my database backup that I (thankfully) had made just before the change, and all my forms are back and working.

Now, can I please have a procedure for migrating to cformsII that will retain my custom forms?

    Thanks!

  • This works for me (tested a few times on two different sites):

    i. with the original cforms 14.6 running (and everything working ok) go to:
    ii. wp-admin > cformsII > Global Settings
iii. in the admin bar under cforms Admin click ‘Backup / restore all settings’
iv. A popup appears, click ‘Backup all settings now!’ it will save to default downloads as all-cforms-settings.txt
    v. if you like you can do this also for each form and then dump the entire database (overprecaution)
vi. disable the old cforms plugin
    vii. install and enable cforms2
viii. go to wp-admin > cformsII > Form Settings. Are the forms there?
ix. No, the forms aren’t there. Go back to wp-admin > cformsII > Global Settings
    x. in the admin bar again under cforms Admin click ‘Backup / restore all settings’
xi. click ‘choose file’ and select all-cforms-settings.txt, then click ‘Restore all settings now!’
xii. go back to wp-admin > cformsII > Form Settings. Are the forms there?
xiii. Yes, the forms are there. Do something else (like delete the old plugin).

If the forms aren’t there after all that, I have no idea (horrible serialised data)

Thanks, that worked. The above is a bit more concise and detailed than what appears in the “installation” details for the plugin now:

If you want to upgrade from the original cformsII from deliciousdays.com, please upgrade to the original version 14.6 first, make sure you upgraded your settings and backup your database. Then deactivate the original plugin and install this fork.

So perhaps when you get a chance, update that with something more like your steps above.

So, 1st i must deactivate older cforms,
Then upload the plugin cforms II (i use 14.9.5 type) zip,
    Activate the new cforms,
    delete the older one?
    Is it right?
