Formulas in row

    Is is possible to have formulas in the values? I have tried to have an “auto-increment” value but it just shows the formula with a single quote at the beginning:
    ‘=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW()-1,COLUMN()))+1
    instead of
    =INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW()-1,COLUMN()))+1
