Forwarding old domain image links to new domain
-
I have 2 old domains that I have forward to my new domain with Godaddy. The forwarding seems to work fine. All my blog posts seem forward properly as well. Example olddomain.com/blog/articlename automatically shows the post at newdomain.com/blog/articlename, which is important for all my google indexed content. But for some reason all my images don’t do the same behaviour. I have noticed that in my stats I have quite a few people finding my site via image searches, but when they click the image it goes to a 404 page, because olddomain.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/image is not there, though the image location is the same.
How do I autodirect the image link to the new domain name? All that seems to need to be done is replace olddomain.com with newdomain.com in the address bar and the image link works fine. For the time being I have added a comment on my 404 asking the viewer to amend it themselves…
Any ideas?
Thanks,
larrinski
