    Hi,

I have set a number of redirects for old pages going to new pages on the same domain after a redesign. When we click ‘Check Redirect’ I’m getting a ‘Found 200, Agent not using redirection’ notice, yet the redirection is working!

Is there a reason for this, should I be concerned that it will stop working?

I should mention that we are viewing the site with the hosts file as DNS has not been changed yet.

The redirect checker is an external agent that checks your site and isn’t affected by local caches or DNS setup. If it returns a 200 then it is a 200.

    Thanks for your quick reposnse.

Sorry, i’m new to redirection..200 is ok? I presume viewing behind a hosts file would be an issue for an external checker as the URL we are directing to wouldn’t exist as the DNS is still pointing to the old site?

200 is not a redirect, it’s a standard web page response.

According to the checker there is no redirect happening. If this is because you are using local DNS settings then you cannot use the redirect checker to confirm if it is redirecting. You will either need to confirm locally yourself, or wait until it is available on the internet for the checker to confirm.
