    It is not a bug, its just a fixed positioning.

    I can advise you to set “position: relative” css property to <footer> container. In this case widget will be completely above footer (looks better!).

    So I want to make the fixed widget fixed until just above my footer. Is it possible?

    Now itis possible!
    Upgrade to version 2.0.
    Go to Appearance -> Fixed Widget Options page.
    Set Margin bottom value = your footer height.
