We just encountered an issue with v4.0.5 when clicking the “View PDF” button from the entries screen and wanted to make you aware.

When v4.0.5 is installed and you click the “View PDF” button from the entries screen there is a “/” missing right after the .com in the domain name which then throws an error and makes viewing the pdf not possible.

We downgraded our version to 4.0.4 and this was not an issue so we’re thinking that somewhere in the v4.0.5 update something got messed up a little and just wanted to let you know.

    Wp version 4.6.1
    Chrome 54.0.2840.71
Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

    Thanks for the feedback.

We haven’t been able to replicate this issue yet, nor had anyone else have the same problem. If you could answer a few follow up it may help us narrow down the problem:

    1. Are you running a WP multsite, or standard WordPress installation?
    2. If you add the missing “/” into the URL does the PDF display?
    3. What does your permalink structure look like?
    4. If your temporarily disable all plugins except Gravity Forms and Gravity PDF, then regenerate your permalinks, does the problem persist?

    Thanks!

We’re running a standard installation of WP, no multisite for this one. If we add the missing “/“ the PDF does show up at that point and our permalinks are currently set as, and have always been set as, Post Name.

This issue happened on a clients live website that we’ve been brought in to do some work on so I unfortunately can’t disable all the plugins at this time to test your last suggestion. I’ll have to coordinate some efforts to do that. If I’m able to do that I’ll report back and let you know.

Thanks for the additional information. We’ll review the PDF URL generation code and see if we can spot the cause of the problem – but as I said, so far we haven’t had anyone else report the same issue so it sounds like some sort of conflict with another piece of code.

We’re hopeful changes made to Gravity PDF 4.0.6 will resolve the problem you are having. You can test it out by manually downloading and installing Gravity PDF 4.0.6 – it’s not publicly released yet so you cannot do this via automatic updates. Try manually install it as per our instructions, otherwise do the FTP installation method.

Once installed, try view the PDFs and let me know if the problem persists or if that resolves any issues for you.

    Jake,

This definitely fixed the issue I was having, thank you so much for looking into it. v4.0.6 works exactly as it should in my installation now.

Note – I didn’t even have to troubleshoot by turning other plugins off, it just worked right away.

    Thanks again.

Great! For the record, the change made was as simple as this. However, be aware the WP docs explicitly states that the 4.0.5 way of doing it works as expected, which suggests an underlying issue on that website. Just something to keep in mind if there are issues with other plugins in future.
