• We’re looking at this plugin for an e-commerce site and have some questions regarding fraud protection.

Our store is currently run through CoreCommerce, and the biggest issue we have is fraudulent orders being sent through to PayPal. We want to be sure we either use a payment gateway, or additional fraud plugin, that will stop potentially fraudulent payments from even going to PayPal. We’d like them stopped on our end.

Your description page says “Our plugins always handle these warning/errors correctly…” Can you explain what “correctly” means? What’s the stop point when a potentially fraudulent order is placed?

Do you have any recommendations for a separate fraud protection plugin, that’s compatible with this plugin?

Warnings/errors would be referring to actual API call errors. That’s different from fraud protection.

Are you working with PayPal payments alone or are you also using PayPal Pro to process credit cards directly on the site?

Either way, following standard procedures when selling online is really the best way to avoid fraud. This would include…

    – Never ship to an unconfirmed address, which means the address you’re shipping to does not match the billing address of a credit card the user has on file with PayPal (or in the case of direct card processing, the AVS / address verification would come back as a mis-match).

You only want to ship when AVS is a full match or PayPal shows a Confirmed address / seller protection eligibility.

You’ll also want to ship things with signature required, especially if it’s $250 or more.

If you can let me know what specific fraud you’ve been experiencing I may be able to provide more details for you on how to avoid it.
