Hey @joppuyo
Sorry I never got back to you on the Imgick problem, thanks for your time on that. Didn’t quite find away round the issue in the end but it was totally unrelated to your plugin anyway.
I am too also massively in favour of the free cropping please.
I think your plugin is best crop plugin for acf. Mainly because the UI/UX is slick, the rule of thirds guides are so sweet, and you return the [original_image]
array as well as the new cropped sizes array.
I started using your plugin on version 3.1.12 and by chance you didn’t actually force users to set an aspect ratio sizes. You could leave the fields empty and you could free crop.
I used this free cropping to my advantage because my friend’s site uses really bad images from his dealers websites. All the images have white backgrounds. Some of his dealers have good images but my friend just needs a fast and easy free crop function rather than the clunky native cropping method. I basically use CSS on the site front-end to center the free cropped image inside a square white thumbnail.
When I updated to version 3.2.0, the free cropping still worked but when I tried to edit the field, it actually throws a JS error in the admin and cant save the field. Probably because the original saved data didn’t match the new format. I could only clear the error and save the field if I added a ratio or pixel size. This in turn meant we’ve lost the original free cropping functionality.
I had to downgrade back to 3.1.12 just so I could continue to use free cropping.
This also caused strange issue after downgrading, that it would only return an image id unless you saved the post again, which then it returns the expected array, lucky I only 60 products to be re-updated.
Looking forward to you bringing back free crop in the next update. Maybe have it as drop down option.
Many Thanks
