Free Product One Time Purchase No Coupon

Is there a way to set a product so it is free but limited to 1 per customer?

If you set the price of a product to be $0.00 that product will be free.

With regards to disallowing customers to purchase more than a single instance of a product this below maybe help with that as I know of no way to accomplish what you describe with a normal transaction being treated like a coupon code.
