I’ve had a free wordpress blog on .com for a week. Today I moved 1 of 4 blogs to a .com, hosted by DreamHost. It transferred the blog with no issues. The new .com domain was online within an hour.

But …. the free theme I was using called Crafty wasn’t available to download out of the 2,168 WordPress themes available. I checked my other 3 themes used on the free WordPress site and those are not available either.

As a test I searched from my friend’s wordpress theme that she also hosts on DreamHost and even her theme did not show up.

    Any reason why?

    Hi there,

The themes offered by WordPress.com and your self-installed version here from www.ads-software.com are quite different.

The themes offered for free on here are different, but some times (like in your case, you’re in luck!) the .com team offers their themes for everyone to download.

You also won’t see other peoples themes just because they have the same host and have it installed, it might be a premium theme from a 3rd party vendor etc. ??

Now, for your theme, Crafty, as created by WordPress.com, if you visit their theme details page at https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/crafty/ they have a download link for it on the right hand sidebar (I don’t want to hotlink it, as I don’t know if they’d like that or not ?? )

Thank you so much. How brain dead can I be??? LOL I saw those download links the day I decided to use those 4 different themes on my 4 blogs.

    Thanks again.
