• I noticed when you first install the plugin (Free version) that it merges the CSS files in the header. However, once you make a change after that in the Ninja settings and clear cache the merging of CSS files fails to run. Do you only get one chance to merge CSS once with free version? I’m not sure why it would not continue merging CSS files after making additional tweaks to the PageSpeed Ninja settings.

Do you have the “Avoids enormous network payloads” section enabled? The plugin should merge CSS if both this section is enabled and the “Merge CSS” option within it (see Advanced settings) is enabled.

Yes those are both enabled. But seeing nothing merged after saving. I’ve tried on 2 different sites and im getting the same experience. Works the first time, then doesn’t work again after making adjustments.

Are you logged in to the site? In this case optimization is disabled (unless the “Enable for Logged Users” option is enabled, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that).

Yeah, I’m testing incognito mode. I noticed on the free plan it mentions “1?request(s)/week”. What does this mean exactly and is it related to working the first time then not the second time?

“1?request(s)/week” is related to external Critical CSS generation service. The plugin does as much as possible locally (including merging of CSS). Could you post URL of your website (or send it to [email protected])?

Is this issue still present in the recently released version 1.4? There have been many changes and optimizations related to caching, CSS and other things that may be related.
