    Hi,

I’ve found quite unpleasant feature. If I switch off internet connection at local host where my dev site is working in virtual box, then loading of any page takes 20-30 seconds instead of 1 sec., when inet connection is on.

If I deactivate Wordfence plugin, timing is coming back to 1 sec.

Is it possible to make Wordfence working without inet connection?

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Andrey

Hi @das73, thanks for your query.

If you navigate to the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page, you’ll see that under Connectivity, connections are required to Wordfence servers and back to the site itself. This connectivity is to ensure all blacklists and scan information is up to date, so when they are missing such as an offline scenario like you mention, the scripts will attempt to connect until they time out, explaining the much larger 20-30 second delay.

I can certainly approach our development team about the possibility of an “offline mode” where Wordfence could be forced to not wait so long under certain circumstances like these connections being missing. This would be a development request and I’m unable to promise any timescales, but we do have channels where this can be seriously discussed.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
