Frequently Used Tags missing

  • Gutenberg does not have the “Frequently Used Tags” block at the Tag input cell in the Post input screen. I use tags a lot to sort out posts and now I must remember the 25 or so tags in each of my sites and that is impossible–at least for me. Tagging in WP is one of its strong suits and Gutenberg handicaps the full use of them. I now only use the ones I remember. PLEASE restore that feature.

    I’m sorry to hear the new block editor isn’t meeting your needs. FWIW, the old meta box that has the frequently used option is still in core code, so it could be reinstated on the post edit screen. Unfortunately, it’s a JavaScript heavy meta box, so getting the box working is more involved than simply adding the meta box back in.

    You could instead revert back to the former tinyMCE editor by using the Classic Editor plugin. Then the meta box will be in place and completely functional with no additional effort. Kind of overkill to lose the entire new editor to regain one function, but you may decide its a good trade off none the less.
