Fresh install wont connect to rss on dashboard or plugin search

  • I have just installed a fresh copy of 3.4.1 and the dashboard is showing: RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: couldn't connect to host under incoming links, wordpress blog and other wordpress news.

    I can not search plugins or tools > import > xxxx for same error: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

    both Curl and fopen is enabled on the server with 128M memory limit.
