Every month my department publishes an Excel spreadsheet that tracks market data. I want to create a static page in WordPress for that data but I want it to be as automated as possible. My idea is to have a dropoff directory where the person responsible can leave dropoff the spreadsheet and the WordPress page would be automatically updated (in other words the content of the static page would be based on whatever is left in the dropoff directory). I could have her save it in the HTML format (which would result in a few files) if that makes it easier. CSV is not an option since the spreadsheet isn’t simple enough for that. Does anyone have any idea how to get this done?

  • There are so many ways to do it — but they really depend upon formatting/layout.

You could certainly have her drop it in HTML form, and have a custom page template that loads the HTML verbatim. That’s pretty easy.
