From Field no longer accepts Free Text

According to this FAQ, CF7’s FROM field should be able to accept free text. When I try using this, CF7 does not provide any configuration errors. However, if I try to send an email I get the error “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”
I know that it is the root cause of the issue because once I replace the FROM field back to entering an email address, the email gets submitted fine.
