from online image repository to wordpress gallery

Hi,

I use wordpress for my blog the last 3 years and since the beginning I have uploaded loads of photographs on my shared host drive.
I would like to store my pictures in an image repository e.g. photobucket and then link to them in my articles. This is not a problem for articles that have a single image but for a lot of them I am using the gallery.

Is it possible to do something like this? I found a plugin but it creates a copy of the picture linked from a url. I would like to show it without storing it on my server.
