  • If you only used qtranslate and didn`t do any hacks or references to qtrans methods in your theme you don’t need to do something more than installing the new plugin deactivate the old and activate the new one.
Plugins that need qtranslate to work (e.g: qtranslate slug) will not work with the new plugin as they reference qtrans methods. For these kind of plugins you need to make some changes.

I’ve tried and it didn’t work for me. I made a site for a customer with qTranslate, now we are trapped with this abandoned plugin. I tried first zTranslate fork some months ago, it worked like a charm, and now that one is abandoned too. Then, I tried to “jump” from zTranslate to this one, and it doesn’t work. Well, it works, but with the default setup: it doesn’t remember any settings, the languages or widgets :(.

Is it possible to escape from qTranslate to another active and well supported plugin?

i found that i needed to recreate my language settings in the wordpress backend, and also fix any references to functions i’d used in my theme that have been renamed.
for example: qtrans_getLanguage() is now ppqtrans_getLanguage()

Yes, you have to reset your settings and change some functions and actions. It’s not only uninstall and install but works!

Could you, Victor Falcon, please be specific which functions and actions need to be changed. I was using qtranslate, when I switched to qtranslateplus, English texts were preserved, but all the texts in the other language were lost. How can I retrieve them?

As far as I have seen pp must be added at the beginning of each function or filter.

Could you please tell me where to find these functions and filters?

I simply deactivated qtranslate and activated qtranslate plus. Everything worked like a charm. One thing I had to change is to add again the French translation for categories. Here’s the web site itself, after transition: https://www.info-news.eu

qTranslate Plus is not support WordPress version 4.3
    please update now
