From twenty fourteen to twenty nineteen

  • Hi, I would like to quit twenty fourteen theme so as to have a theme more responsive.
    But, there is a but; I chose twenty fourteen because it was intended to be a magazine theme, which is presently what I still need !

    Most of all, I would like to keep the main slider that makes it possible to navigate between featured post, which is not possible as far as I know with other themes.

    So what do you suggest ? What is the best thing to do ? Starting from nineteen and includes a slider, or start from fourteen and add responsive improvements ?

  • This is the main reason that sliders don’t belong in themes.
    What is not responsive about it?
    It is possible to switch to a different theme with a slider. There are lots of them in the repository. But sliders are overrated, and a poor user experience.

    I say choose a theme that looks close to what you like, then tweak the looks with Additional CSS or a child theme. And add functionality with plugins.

    Ok I changed the theme, but did not find any slider that makes it ok for free …
    When I want to display featured images dynamically, it is never free …
