• Hello. I intially bought a premium hosting plan and domain with wordpress.com, forgetting I could just set up the domain and site on my hostgator account. I have canceled the premium plan but kept the domain on wordpress.com. When my domain was on wordpress.com, I was not able to install any themes because of wordpress.com’s rules.

I transferred over the domain to hostgator (changed nameservers and it checks out according to both hostgator and wordpress.com), but still am not able to see the fresh install of wordpress on hostgators side. Any time I log in with my credentials, go to wp-admin, appearances, I still see wordpress.com’s dashboard of wp-admin rather then hostgators (so that I can install new themes). I have also cleared all browser history if you guys were going to suggest cached issues.

    Help?

This is my normal initial website that I want it to look like:
    https://grab.by/NuPO

    This is my problem:
    https://grab.by/NuQ8

How long ago did you change the name servers?

When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, your domain may go to its old location, and you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors.”

If you still have trouble viewing the site after 72 hours have passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache.

If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache: https://support.opendns.com/entries/26336865-Clearing-the-DNS-Cache-on-Computers-Servers-and-Web-Browsers

So I have cleared my cache in all areas, cleared my local dns cache (if that makes a difference), and cleared everything I could clear to get this to work. It actually does not redirect when I am on my home network ( which is what I want) but it still redirects on my work network. All browsers have been cleared. I also went into terminal on my mac and flushed my computer from there (El Capitan for Mac OS X) Am I missing something else that I need to clear?

    Thanks

Then you’ll still need to wait for the DNS propagation to catch up to your work’s ISP, that’s why I said “If you still have trouble viewing the site after 72 hours have passed.” ??

I guess I am impatient…haha thanks! I have been on 6 different networks and my work is the only one showing the redirect…so odd.

They might even have their own DNS server system, separate from their ISP, so it might take a bit.
